We are in the Eastern Pyrenees, the Pyrenees that overlook the Mediterranean.
Here we can find countless high mountain and mid-mountain routes.
The two most classic destinations are:
- the Vall de Núria, a spectacular and unique valley that is actually 7 valleys that converge at the Sanctuary of
Núria. The mountains that surround it give it a semi-circle shape called the Pot.
One of its most emblematic excursions is the “Camí vell” that goes from Queralbs to the Vall de Núria.
- Ascent of Puigmal, the highest mountain in our region and the desire of many mountaineers,
curiously this mountain is part of the Pot de Núria.
Other excursions, some as important as the GR 11 trans-Pyrenean crossing that passes through our region, or the route of the three trains that consists of taking the Núria rack railway to France through the Carançà Valley to take the yellow train and once you are in Puigcerdà take the train that goes to Barcelona and return to Ribes de Freser.
Many routes await you, small and large, some will pass through towns like Dòrria or Campelles,
others will travel through the impressive 7 gorges near the town of Campdevànol, the list is very long.
Peaks and valleys await you all year round, with snow, flowers, mushrooms, deer bellowing, rivers, a small paradise.
